Parson Heath Driving School

Parsons Heath Driving School is run by myself John Faint, I have been a D.S.A Approved driving instructor grade 5, since 1996. In the past I have worked for two other driving schools, then started by own driving school in 2004. I believe myself to have exceptional patience, care and reliability with all learners, especially with nervous pupils or drivers who have not driven for many years, and need my help with their confidence to get back on the road.

Taking a driving test Colchester

The driving test lasts for approximately 40 minutes which includes

  • Eye sight check (reading a number plate approx. 20.5 metres away).
  • Show me, tell me - The examiner will ask 1 x Show me and 1 x Tell me question to test your knowledge on basic car maintenance and safety.
(There are 19 questions in total. For further information please see ‘Show me, tell me’ in ‘Useful Links’ below)
  • One reverse manoeuvre and 10 minutes of independent driving.

Your practical test will include independent drive

This is a relatively new part to the test and lasts for approx, 10 minutes. i.e. driving without instruction from the examiner. Before this was introduced (October 2010) candidates would react upon the examiners direction by going into ‘MSM mode’. Now for 10 minutes of the test the candidate will have to either follow;-

  • Traffic signs
  • A series of directions
  • A combination of both
